Family Without TV for Five Days Survives!

Yes, it’s true. A family of four (mine), including two teenagers, survived the last five days with no TV. Thanks to installation of new hardwood floors and carpeting, all the TVs were disconnected this week. The results? More talking, laughing, playing, sharing and just being. With no TV news to agitate us, there was less angst and more peace. In fact, we fell asleep listening to classical music instead of crime reports.

We just reconnected the TVs this morning but have made a pledge to watch less. It’s no longer the default mechanism and is now one of many options to consider.
