Balance Begins with Why

BalanceBeginsWithWhy

As I prepare to present another “Work-Life Balance Wisdom” conference program, I am reminded how important it is to define the why before you can deal with the what and how.

So, if you claim you want more balance in your life, what would you do if you had more time, energy and other resources?

Here are the typical reasons why that I hear from my audiences:

  • Spend More Time with My Family
  • Be Healthier
  • Advance at Work
  • Find a Better Job
  • Go Back to School
  • Enjoy a Hobby or a Sport
  • Travel
  • Nurture Deeper Friendships
  • Find True Love

When you’re clear on your why, you will have the energy and focus you need to make changes and learn new skills that lead to better balance. You will turn down distractions disguised as opportunities and embrace challenges with confidence. You will also inspire others to do the same.

What’s your why?
