Happy Leap Day! Here’s How to Enjoy More “Extra Days.”

leap-day

Tomorrow is Leap Day, that “extra day” we get just once every four years. What if you could enjoy more “extra days” throughout the year?

You can, and it’s simple. Whenever I present my Work-Life Balance Wisdom and CRAVE Your Goals! programs at conferences and for companies, I ask my audiences to beware of the clutter of unnecessary obligations. You know, those time-wasting, energy-zapping things we resentfully do out of habit or misplaced loyalty. Like serving for too many years on a professional committee or continuing to get together with a friend we’ve long outgrown.

Here’s how to clear your schedule of those unnecessary obligations and reclaim your time for what matters most:

  1. Make a list of all your daily, weekly, monthly and yearly obligations.
  2. Check off the ones that are essential to your professional and personal life.
  3. Rank the others each on a scale of 1 to 10, based on how important you think it is.
  4. Consider resigning from anything under a 7.

I hope you’ll try this exercise this week and let me know your insights. To more “extra days”!
