Just for Today…

Last night, I presented “CRAVE Your Next Job in Five Simple Steps” at the Roswell United Methodist Church (RUMC) Job Networking meeting. This amazing group meets the second and fourth Monday nights in Roswell, Ga., and attracts hundreds of people. I was one of 11 speakers scattered throughout the building and we each presented our condensed 15-minute talk three times so participants could hear the three speakers of their choice. It was a challenge and a privilege to share powerful tools like visualization and gratitude with people experiencing one of the most challenging times in their lives as they search for a job.

One of the participants, Meghan Hill, is looking for a relationship sales position. She shared with me how important affirmations are to keep her focused and positive. “In fact,” she said, “I wrote them up and framed them. I call it ‘Just for Today.” She was kind enough to share it with us.

Just for Today…
I thank God for the blessings I have been given…
I pursue a healthy mind and body through exercise, healthy eating and positivity…
I turn away from depression and defeatism…
I believe that God is in control and has a plan, though He may not be ready to reveal it to me just yet…
I commit to doing my very best at everything I set out to do, because half-assed is not even worth starting…
I am kind to myself and forgive myself…
I know that my goals may be just around the corner but still invisible…
I celebrate all my victories, regardless of the size.

What are you ready to commit to, just for today?
