You and Your Team Can Shift Gears for Better Balance

As a work-life balance strategist, I’m always looking for fresh ideas to manage our time, energy and mindset more effectively.

That’s why I’m excited to share with you an insightful book I just read.

It’s called “5 Gears: How to Be Present and Productive When There is Never Enough Time and is written by Leadercast founder Jeremie Kubicek and Steve Cockram, both co-founders of GiANT Worldwide.

Join me at the May 5th Leadercast Live event for a day filled with inspiring speakers and candid conversations on the power of purpose. As a “Leader Worth Following” in the Leadercast Now video series, I will participate in the post-event networking session and hope to see you there!

The “5 Gears ” is a metaphor for a car stick shift. When you know what gear you would like to get to, you can make that shift and communicate it to others. (I’ve already shared this concept with my husband, who’s retired. Now he knows when he stops by my home office to chat and I’m fully concentrating on a task in fifth gear and give him the high-five sign, he doesn’t disturb me. Shifting into second gear at the end of the day to reconnect with him is easier since I’m more intentional about it.)

This simple visual can transform relationships, strengthen your leadership skills, and help you be more productive on your own and with your team. By giving yourself permission to recharge, when you shift into first gear, you are less likely to burn out.

I hope this concept helps you enjoy better balance. Let me know what you think by posting a comment below!
